In the above Ghazal Hafez mentions that he saw “Noure Khoda” or light of God, in the “kharabat- e-Moqan”. Our research shows that “kharabat- e-Moqan”, as Shahriar Shahriari translates it to the “Tavern of the Magi”, is the ancient city of Ray near Tehran, Iran.  It is amazing to realize that Bahá’u’lláh, which is an Arabic word, would be “Noure Khoda” when translated into Persian. Bahá’u’lláh was from the city of Noure in Iran and received His revelation or light of God “Noure Khoda” in the dungeon of  Siachal-e-Tehran near the ruins of city of Ray.  More amazing is that Hafiz, who was born in the early 1300’s, saw  Noure Khoda while he was in Shiraz, nearly five hundred years prior to the event.  And if you read above Ghazal, you will see how much he emphasizes its correctness.

A prolific and accomplished Persian musician, Ostad Mohammad Reza Lotfi, who was head of the School of Music at Tehran University between 1978 and 1980, plays tar and sings the Hafez’s Gazal 357.

After watching the above two videos, contemplation on the following passage of Bahá’u’lláh in the Suriy-i-Ra'is, brings things closer to our time and to us.

“O Chief! We revealed Ourself unto thee at one time upon Mount Tina, and at another time upon Mount Zayta,* and yet again in this hallowed Spot. Following, however, thy corrupt inclinations, thou didst fail to respond and wert accounted with the heedless. Consider, then, and call thou to mind the time when Muhammad came with clear tokens from Him Who is the Almighty, the All-Knowing. The people were wont to pelt Him with stones from hidden places and in the markets, and they rejected the signs of God, thy Lord and the Lord of thy forefathers. The learned also denied Him, as did their followers, and likewise the kings of the earth, as thou hast heard from the tales of old. Among those kings was Chosroes,** to whom Muhammad sent a blessed epistle summoning him unto God and forbidding him from misbelief.  Verily, thy Lord knoweth all things. Following the promptings of his evil and corrupt desires, however, Chosroes waxed arrogant before God and tore up the Tablet. He, verily, is accounted among the inmates of the nethermost fire.”

Baha'u'llah, The Summons of the Lord of Hosts, p141

* Literally, "the Mount of Figs" and "the Mount of Olives", cf. Qur'án 95:1.

** Chosroes II, the Sasanian monarch who reigned in Persia during the lifetime of Muhammad.

Editor’s note:

Typically we do not dwell on unpleasant topics, however, since the above series was aired on the Iranian news channel IRINN in May and June 2008 and speaks of Bahá’í Communities, we decided to share it with you.

Usually perception of man is his reality, and reality of man is his thought, and as a man thinks, so he is. The above series reflects the thoughts of those authors.  We request you to find out for yourselves who are Bahá’u’lláh, the Bahá’í Faith and the Bahá’ís.

Earlier on this page, we have referenced books written in Arabic and Persian on the Baha’i Faith.  For such books written in English, click here.

Bahá’ís love Iran and consider it as a blessed country for three Manifestations of God, namely Zoroaster, the Báb, and Baha’u’llah, came from that hallowed land. As far as Bahá’ís wanting to take over Iran, let the following words of Bahá’u’lláh from the Lawh-i-Ra’ís be a guide, start with verse 16.  In English click here.    In Persian click here.
